For the 2013 season we independently obtained the following information via consumer and employee feedback for Cedar Fair amusement parks:
California’s Great America, Santa Clara, California, USA, 40 Significant Injuries – 11 leg related injuries on the Flight Deck roller coaster involved several riders who lost feeling in their legs after riding.
Canada’s Wonderland, Vaughan, Ontario, Canada, 52 Significant Injuries –12 leg related injuries on the Leviathan roller coaster were attributed to the seats. Riders mentioned issues with loss of feeling in their legs as well as difficulty walking after riding.
Carowinds, Charlotte, North Carolina, USA, 79 Significant Injuries – 7 shoulder injuries on the Vortex roller coaster involved various riders who had difficulty lifting their arms when getting off of the ride.
Cedar Point, Sandusky, Ohio, USA, 92 Significant Injuries – 15 neck and 3 back injuries on the Magnum XL-200 roller coaster all shared one thing in common. Riders said the vibration and roughness of the ride was uncomfortable, especially seats that were referred to as, “wheel seats,” by employees who assisted us.
Dorney Park, Allentown, Pennsylvania, USA, 35 Significant Injuries – 17 leg injuries on the Talon roller coaster involved riders who lost feeling in their legs and had difficulty walking, a re-occurring them with this type of inverted roller coaster
Kings Dominion, Doswell, Virginia, USA, 75 Significant Injuries – 11 black outs on the Intimidator roller coaster. 15 other black outs were attributed to dehydration issues, which riders admitted was their fault.
Kings Island, Mason, Ohio, USA, 45 Significant Injuries – 8 back and 5 neck injuries were attributed by riders to the rides roughness.
Knott’s Berry Farm, Buena Park, California, USA, 138 Significant Injuries – 74 total injuries on the Ghostrider roller coaster. Riders have said the rough out of control nature of the ride is to be expected from a wooden roller coaster, however, this ride is abnormally rough to the point it’s painful.
Michigan’s Adventure, Muskegon, Michigan, USA, 37 Significant Injuries 7 neck and 6 shoulder injuries on the Thunderhawk roller coaster.
Valleyfair!, Shakopee, Minnesota, USA, 23 Significant Injuries – 9 total injuries on the Renegade roller coaster which riders said, while not rough, whipped them around enough to cause injury.
Worlds of Fun, Kansas City, Missouri, USA, 30 Significant Injuries – 12 total injuries on the Patriot roller coaster. 10 riders with difficulty walking after riding as well as 2 riders who blacked out.
