Knott’s Berry Farm Update: Season’s Screamings

Do you feel that change in the air? Down at Knott’s Berry Farm, the park is transitioning from summer to fall by donning Halloween decorations in preparation for the Scary Farm fog to roll in later this week. It might feel like it’s a little soon to make the transition from Summer Nights to Spooky/Scary Farm based on current weather, but Disney and Universal have already launched their Halloween events, so it’s time for Knott’s to follow suit. Here’s a look at the pre-Halloween frights and sights for this year…

A legendary, yet mostly forgotten theme park ride rises from the grave at Knott’s Berry Farm

That is, until nostalgia willed a version of it back into existence. While Crump’s age will likely keep him from visiting the attraction, he’s pleased, of course, that his most personal ride has been re-imagined.

“I think other people should have a crack at it, so this is good,” he says. “I want other people to pick up the ball and go with it.”

Then, Crump pauses and starts asking questions about the lighting on the new ride: Did they get it right, and does it work with the mix of digital and physical sets? “I can’t wait to talk to my son about the lighting to see if they did a good job on the lighting,” says Crump. “That was really important to me.”

First Look at Knott's Bear-y Tales: Return to the Fair - New Ride at Knott's Berry Farm

Knott’s Bear-y Tales: Return to the Fair is Jam-Packed with Family Fun!

"For those who can’t enjoy some of the more thrilling attractions at Knott’s, this could be one of the best experiences in the park. In fact, I think Bear-y Tales is a bonified slam-dunk regardless of demographic. The marriage of modern interactive elements and witty, classic dark ride creates an attraction with re-rideability that many guests will continue to enjoy for years to come. Our only question is, when can we have more Knott’s dark rides?"

Knott’s Bear-y Tales delivers fast and furious game play in fun tribute to 1970s ride

"That’s certainly the case with the new Knott’s Bear-y Tales ride. The game play takes over and the storytelling gets lost. Even when you’re looking for the storytelling, the manic game play unfolding on the screens gets in the way.

The tale is there in Bear-y Tales — you’ll just have to look hard for it. Which will take multiple rides — the sign of a good dark ride. In your quest, you’ll have to fight your way through a never-ending army of coyotes to get to that story."

Meet the Knott's Bear-y Tales gang! (Boysen Bear-y, Brawnie, and Moxie)

Knott's News: I love the new walk around characters!!! Moxxie and Brawny, wonderful names for the pups. They look fantastic and it warms my heart knowing Knott's is going all in with this IP. I also don't believe Crafty - the most popular character on the ride - ever had a walk around character, so this may be the first time ever he gets some in-park representation.

Here is a shot of the old walk around characters:
