Today we bring news from Knotts Berry Farm. As the Christmas elements are removed from the park, maintenance and plans for the upcoming year move in. To start the year off, Knott’s has again partnered with the Susan G. Komen Foundation to raise money and awareness for Breast Cancer awareness by offering special tickets and merchandise. Next up we’ll stroll the park to check up on how Knott’s is taking advantage of the “off-season”. The Timber Mountain Log Ride is down for an annual maintenance program while La Revelucion, in Fiesta Village, is still down months later. Thankfully Ghost Town is in wonderful shape after the holidays and Bigfoot Rapids is back up and running, despite the cooler weather. We also take a look at the Fool’s Gold Stunt Show in Ghost Town’s Wagon Camp Theatre and hope for better things to come. Who’s ready for a trip to the farm?

Knott's Berry Farm preserves now made by Linn's in Cambria
The next time you travel south to Knott’s Berry Farm in Buena Park and sample some of its syrups and preserves, think about this: What you’re tasting comes from right up the road in Cambria.
John Linn, owner of Linn’s, has been supplying Knott’s with a growing number of preserves and syrups for about a year now, he said Thursday, in an exclusive deal that has led to a big production increase for the family-run Cambria business.

FIRST UPDATE OF THE NEW YEAR!!! FIRST UPDATE… wait… why does this feel familiar? Anyway… we’re here. See, last week we went from Wednesday to Thursday and everyone went nuts with enthusiasm and optimism and made silly resolutions that they would and/or would not do certain things because we went from Wednesday to Thursday. Humanity… we are weird. I propose a better solution… just do stuff. If you like it: do it. If you don’t like it: don’t do it. Don’t need a date on a calendar to remind you what you should and shouldn’t do…
So we’re back now with Knott’s Berry Farm… breaking what might be a 2 or 3 year streak of the first update being from Universal Studios Hollywood. Crazy, huh? Yes, back to Knott’s after needing to get back on that horse now that all the theme park hipster kids are like “OMG KNOTT’S IS AWESOME”… and it’s like “Yeah, Junior… we get it… you just left mommy and daddy’s house for the first time and got to see that magazine your friend’s uncle hid under the mattress.” Seriously. It’s cute. So we’re back to Knott’s to see what’s up… let’s get to it.

Here’s is a quick update from Knotts Berry Farm. Knotts has announced their plans for New Years 2015and we couldn’t be more excited. MiceChat will be offering a fun night of food, entertainment, and more at Knott’s that night. So, if you’d like to spend the evening with friends, be sure to join us. Knott's News: Yeah, I know this is old news but I've been a little occupied as of late. Since I don't subscribe to this news outlet and won't for a single article, I'll have to work with the headline as my one source of information.
From what Google Translate says, Trio-Tech landed a near $10 million contract to make Voyage to the Iron Reef for Knott's. I feel like most people are assuming this is the overall attraction budget, and with such limited access to the article and limited understanding of the language, it may very well be but the fact that they specifically say "contract" makes me think that figure doesn't represent the complete attraction budget but instead what Trio-Tech is getting for their contributions. After all, Trio-Tech has publicly stated that this is the largest contract in their 15 years of existence (wouldn't make sense if that was the budget, as it's roughly the same as Guardian) . From what we know, Knott's designed (or co-designed, they haven't been clear) the attraction in-house and any physical sets or scenic work will be handled by them, including the queue and show building. I suspect these aspects of production weren't included in that number.
As it is, this is all speculation and I'm anxious for more information maybe shedding a little more light on the physical aspects of this attraction (definitely curious as to what the show building will look like and if the surrounding area will change at all).

Behind the Holiday Season Scenes at Knotts Berry Farm
People like to complain that Southern California has no discernible seasons. But at Knott’s Berry Farm, on the first day of its Knott’s holiday season, signs of change are all around from the lighting of the Christmas tree to snow flurries every hour in the evenings in Ghost Town—and especially on the menu from Calico Square to Santa’s Cabin.
John Chiu is our tour guide, giving us a glimpse of what Knott’s Merry Farm has to offer. As Director of Food and Beverage at one of the most popular theme parks in North America, Chiu has the inside track on new seasonal treats: after all, his day-to-day responsibilities have him covering roughly 160 acres of theme park land, checking up on all of the park’s 40 restaurants and food stands to ensure that they’re meeting “the four cornerstones of [Knott’s parent company] Cedar Fair—safety, service, courtesy, and cleanliness—all held together by integrity.”
That inside track is vital. It’s a big park, and there’s a lot to see.
