Garner Holt Productions – Opening Our Doors for a Worthy Cause
The coolest part of this special event to raise funds for the preservation and restoration of the house Walt Disney was born in will be a unique VIP opportunity preceding the GHP tour. At 9am, Knott’s Berry Farm will usher 15 guests through the backstage gate and to the newly-refurbished Calico Mine Ride. There, in the hour before the park opens, Bill Butler and I will lead guests on a tour of the inner workings of Bud Hurlbut’s masterpiece. We’ll walk through backstage areas of the ride to see what it takes to transport guests back to a working gold mine in the 1870s. If you aren’t already, seeing the Mine Ride from this perspective will make you a big Bud Hurlbut fan—the ride’s layout, operational workings, and thematic achievement are simply incredible. Plus, we’ll share with you all the challenges we faced in bringing a ride that hadn’t changed much from its 1960 opening into a modern attraction filled with sophisticated animatronics, special effects and lighting, and an amazing audio system.
Then, we’ll board a train for a lights on trip through the mine, where we’ll point out all the wonderful detail to be found in the attraction, and where we added new magic to Bud’s original work. Lastly, we’ll flip the switch to “show conditions” for a final ride through as guests experience the attraction every day. After the Mine Ride tour, we’ll head over to Mrs. Knott’s Chicken Dinner Restaurant for breakfast before heading back to GHP for the afternoon events. While at Mrs. Knott’s, we’ll present our VIP guests with a special memento from the event: a real piece of the Calico Mine Ride created by GHP for the attraction. Knott’s has VERY generously allowed us access to the attraction for this exclusive, once-in-a-lifetime event. I’ve said it before: Knott’s is the most generous, supportive, and friendly park I’ve worked with, and we are grateful to them for allowing us to share the secrets of the Mine Ride with you.
I hope to see you at GHP on February 28th—it’s not just a wonderful event, it’s all for a very worthy cause that we can all support!

Knott’s Berry Farm – 02/16/2015
HAPPY PRESIDENTS DAY!!!! Y’know… to the half of you who get to stay home today. To the other half, hi… I’m at home for once, you’re not. To the rest of the world… this is a holiday we celebrate to honor all of our Presidents (Except for Buchanan, because really, nobody remember’s that guy). So this is how we do. Today to celebrate Presidents day, I’m going to do the most American thing ever… I’m gonna sit here in my pajamas, have a beer and write an update about Knott’s Berry Farm… who cares if it’s 7:30! (Actually, I’m having coffee and I’m going to work out after this, it’s really not that exciting… dammit.)

Knotts Berry Farm Getting Ready for a Big 2015
We have a delightful little update for you today from Knotts Berry Farm in Buena Park, California. It’s the off-season, so most SoCal theme parks, including Knott’s, are empty right now. Of course, Disneyland is packed to the gills, which makes this the perfect time of year for you to try a few new things. We’ll begin our update by looking at some of the little touches and enhancements going on in the park. Ghost Town Grave Yard‘s most famous resident has been restored. There is also plenty of pink around the park as Knott’s joins with the Susan G. Komen Foundation to raise breast cancer awareness. The Timber Mountain Log Ride has also returned in almost perfect condition. Still the best log ride ever built. We then round things out with a look at the construction of Voyage to the Iron Reef and the bizarre refurbishment timeline of La Revolucion in Fiesta Village. Let’s get to the news.

Acclaim Lighting used for Knott's Calico Mine Ride and Camp Snoopy renovations
Knott’s Berry Farm, America’s first and oldest theme park located in Buena Park, California, has renovated two of its more popular attractions and lands – Calico Mine Ride and Camp Snoopy – and used Acclaim Lighting products supplied by Pacific Coast Entertainment as part of the lighting makeover.
Owned and operated by Cedar Fair Entertainment Company, Knott’s Berry Farm celebrated the grand re-opening of the two attractions on June 14th with in-house designers James Sidler and Kyle Arnold handling the lighting design for Calico Mine Ride and Camp Snoopy respectively. Knotts technical staff completed installation of the products.

11 Things You Didn’t Know About Knott’s Berry Farm
Knott’s Berry Farm was the family business that paved the way for a new era of family entertainment. America’s very first amusement park started with Walter and Cordelia Knott setting up a berry stand right off Highway 39, which was, back then, main artery between Los Angeles and Orange County. Beyond the Boysenberry Punch, funnel cakes, and fond memories of adolescent smooching on Kingdom of the Dinosaurs, there are some really cool facts most people don’t know about the Berry Farm.
